I Will Contest Kebbi Gov Election in 2027, No Retreat — Malami

Abubakar Malami, a former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, has announced his intention to run for the governorship election in Kebbi State in 2027.
In his statement regarding this ambition, Malami expressed confidence that he has the support of the state’s residents.
“INEC guidelines do not allow us to begin any form of mobilisation yet, but I assure you that when the time comes, you will see that we have the support of the people of Kebbi State,” Malami said during an interview with DCL Hausa.
“I have agreed to contest, and there is no retreat. God willing, we are going to win because we have people who believe in us, and we will not let them down,” he added.
Malami has expressed criticism of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), highlighting its role in creating hardship, especially in northern Nigeria.
He noted that many farmers have been compelled to abandon their farms due to ongoing insecurity in the region.
He pointed out that these challenges continue to persist as a result of negligence at both the state and federal levels.
“Today, rice mills that operated actively for 20 years have shut down due to bad policies that favour foreign companies,” he said.
Malami outlined his intentions to run for office, emphasizing his goal to address insecurity in Kebbi State and to revitalize the farming sector.
He expressed a commitment to safeguarding the interests of the local population.
He clarified that his decision to enter the race was not motivated by personal gain, but rather aimed at initiating a rescue mission for the state.
