Two More PDP Governors Set To Join APC As Fayose Drops Big Names

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has expressed concerns regarding the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He emphasized that the resolution of these issues hinges on addressing what he refers to as “leadership decay” at the top levels of the party.

In an interview on the Politics Today program aired by Channels Television, Fayose characterized the party’s challenges as a result of deterioration that is pervasive from its leadership.

He drew an analogy to a fish, suggesting that just as a fish rots from its head, the PDP cannot recover unless the failures in leadership are confronted and remedied.

He said, “When fish decays from the body, you can salvage it, but when it decays from the head, you cannot salvage it. Currently, the PDP has decayed from the head.”

Fayose stated that he had repeatedly raised alarms about the state of the party, warning that internal disunity and weak leadership structures were gradually destroying it.

He further stated, “I have not come here for one day to deceive Nigerians about PDP, and I’ve not hidden the fact that I will never leave PDP.

“I have also not hidden the fact that I am a great supporter of the president as a Yoruba man. I stand to be corrected, and I have said severally that PDP is in trouble.”

Fayose claimed he predicted that some PDP governors would defect to the APC, saying his warning was coming true.

He said, “After my visit here three weeks ago, Governor Diri left. He was actually the chairman of the (PDP) campaign screening committee, but he left. The Governor of Enugu left. And the third one is governor of Taraba, who was handed over by the president to the national chairman of the APC.”

The former governor warned that the PDP crisis has worsened, predicting more defections, including the Governor of Plateau State leaving for the APC.

He added, “Another one will leave very soon. The Governor of Plateau will leave. But I’m telling you again, after the governor of Plateau, another governor will leave. When I come back here, I will remind you again.”
