Anti-Party Activities: PDP Suspends Anambra Governorship Candidate Ezenwafor

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State has officially suspended its governorship candidate from the recent election, Jude Ezenwafor, citing his poor performance and alleged anti-party behavior.
This decision was made during a meeting of the party’s State Executive Committee, which took place at the PDP Secretariat in Awka.
During the meeting, it was reported that Ezenwafor was seen at the Light House in Awka, where he visited Governor Chukwuma Soludo to congratulate him on his election victory.
Following the meeting, the State Chairman of the party, Dr. Chidi Chidebe, addressed the media, stating that Ezenwafor distanced himself from the party after obtaining the candidate ticket.
Chidebe indicated that Ezenwafor neglected to attend meetings or organize campaign rallies and later claimed he had been attacked and shot in Abuja.
In the committee’s communiqué, Ezenwafor was accused of “selling out” and demonstrating a lack of commitment to the success of the PDP during the electoral process.
The communique stated: “The Anambra State Governorship Election has come and gone, and the general atmosphere during the election was largely peaceful, and both the conduct and outcome were, to a reasonable extent, transparent.”
The committee reported that Ezenwafor’s conduct during the campaign was deemed “not only uncooperative but outrightly destructive to the collective interest of the party.”
This assessment raised concerns among party officials, especially after learning that the PDP candidate managed to secure only a single vote in his own ward, Nnobi Ward 3, Idemili South Local Government Area.
This result has been characterized as the worst performance recorded in the party’s history in Anambra.
Following a review of his actions, the committee decided to suspend Ezenwafor for one month and referred the matter to the State Disciplinary Committee for further investigation.
The statement added: “Mr. Jude Ezenwafor is hereby suspended from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for a period of one (1) month with immediate effect.”
The PDP National Working Committee (NWC) has been formally instructed to ensure that Ezenwafor and his associates no longer have access to the national secretariat.
In addition, the party has requested the FCT Police Command to investigate Ezenwafor’s claim of having been shot in Abuja, highlighting that there is no recorded evidence or substantiation for such an incident.
Furthermore, PDP leadership characterized the recent election as one of their least successful performances in the state, attributing this failure primarily to the candidate’s negligence and lack of loyalty.
