241 Killed, 144,790 Displaced By Flood – NEMA

The National Emergency Management Agency revealed that a total of 433,578 persons had been affected by flooding across 27 states and 123 local government areas of the country as of November 4, 2025.
According to the 2025 flood dashboard obtained by our correspondent on Sunday, 144,790 people were displaced by the floods, while 241 lives were lost.
NEMA also confirmed 839 injuries and 115 persons missing nationwide.
The data further showed that the disaster damaged 52,509 houses and destroyed 74,767 hectares of cultivated farmlands, leaving thousands of households without shelter and livelihoods.
The demographic data showed that 82,820 men, 133,407 women, 197,566 children, and 19,985 elderly persons were affected.
In addition, 2,503 persons with disabilities were impacted by the floods.
Adamawa State recorded the highest number of affected persons, with 60,608 people impacted and 23,077 displaced.
Lagos State followed with 57,951 affected and 3,680 displaced. Akwa Ibom State was next, with 51,813 affected persons and 44,732 displaced, while Imo State reported 34,589 affected and 17,454 displaced.
Taraba State recorded 28,107 affected persons, with 4,465 displaced, and Rivers State had 26,710 affected and 9,645 displaced.
Kaduna State reported 24,240 affected persons and 1,237 displaced, while Edo State had 18,373 affected and 7,681 displaced.
Kebbi State recorded 16,918 affected and 5,718 displaced, followed by Sokoto State with 15,675 affected and 4,566 displaced.
Delta State reported 14,057 affected persons and 3,325 displaced, while Jigawa State had 13,302 affected and 409 displaced.
Borno State recorded 8,164 affected and 2,436 displaced, and Abia State had 11,907 affected and 4,896 displaced.
Anambra State reported 6,296 affected persons with 1,050 displaced, Niger State had 6,041 affected and 1,860 displaced, and Cross River recorded 5,646 affected and 5,518 displaced.
Bayelsa State had 5,868 affected persons and no displacement; Yobe State reported 4,256 affected, with 486 displaced. Katsina State recorded 4,061 affected and 557 displaced, while Gombe had 4,098 affected and 865 displaced.
Kano State reported 3,901 affected and 21 displaced, Ondo State had 3,735 affected and 363 displaced, and Kogi State recorded 2,825 affected with no displacement. Kwara State had 2,663 affected persons with no displacement, Nasarawa reported 749 affected and 749 displaced, and the Federal Capital Territory recorded 1,025 affected with no displacement.
The Geopolitical Impact Assessment on the dashboard revealed that the South-South recorded the highest number of affected persons at 122,000, with 71,000 displaced.
It is followed by the North-East, which recorded 105,000 affected persons and 31,000 displaced, while the North-West had 78,000 affected and 13,000 displaced.
The South-West region recorded 62,000 affected persons and 4,000 displaced, the South-East had 53,000 affected and 23,000 displaced, while the North Central region recorded 13,000 affected and 3,000 displaced.
NEMA identified several key challenges in the aftermath of the floods, including resource shortages (60 per cent), security risk (nine per cent), inaccessibility (18 per cent), community resistance (eight per cent), and coordination (four per cent).
The agency identified food, shelter, water, and sanitation, health services, and livelihood support as the most urgent needs of victims, followed by nutrition, education, protection, and security.
