Airport Saga: Why I misbehaved – KWAM 1 addresses Nigerians

Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, widely recognized as K1 De Ultimate, a distinguished figure in Fuji music, has issued an apology regarding the incident that occurred at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on August 5, 2025.
In a formal statement that he personally signed on Friday, the artist expressed his regret over the controversy and clarified that the flask he carried on that day contained exclusively water, contrary to some reports that suggested it contained alcohol.
“The incident that occurred at the local wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport was, to say the least, unfortunate.
“Unknown to many, I suffer from chronic dehydration, and my doctor strongly advised that I remain constantly hydrated. This is why I always carry a water flask with me.
“Contrary to the negative narrative being circulated in some quarters, the flask contained only water — not alcohol,” he said.
K1 explained that the flask was empty during two separate security checks and was only filled with water at the airport lounge before he proceeded to the tarmac.
He stressed that he had not yet boarded the aircraft, “let alone being deboarded,” and said his account could be verified through CCTV footage.
The Fuji star apologised to the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, ValueJet, and Nigerians at large.
“I acknowledge and deeply regret the concerns that arose from the incident.
“It was never my intention to cause any disruption or violate aviation protocols.
“My unwavering patriotism and loyalty to the Federal Republic of Nigeria have never been in doubt.
“I would never do anything to tarnish the image I’ve built over the past five decades,” he said.
K1 added that he remained committed to his role as a cultural ambassador for Nigerian music and thanked his fans for their support.

Why I can’t post my mum on social media – Reality TV star

Reality TV star, Uriel Oputa, has explained why she has no plans to post her relationship online.
As reported by Naija News reports, in a post on her Instagram story, Oputa said she is too emotional to deal with the drama that usually follows public displays of love.
She described how innocent moments, like sharing a simple family photo, can quickly turn into heated discussions.
She said people may start to ask about the child’s resemblance to the father and even suggest DNA tests.
According to her, such online reactions often lead to arguments, family issues, and stress.
Uriel jokingly begged not to be allowed to eat eggs or wear wigs if she ever breaks her rule and posts her man.
She said all she wants is to love in peace, away from the chaos of social media.
She wrote: “If I ever post my man or relationship on this app, please ban me from eating eggs and collect all my wigs. Because from what I’ve seen, you people are not smiling. One small innocent family photo, next thing: ‘That last born no resemble her papa.’ Now it’s DNA test, family feud, and midnight arguments.
“You people? Magical troublemakers. Me? Too emotional for this o. Let me love in peace before una give me BP.”

“It Was Not Boat”: What killed Nollywood actor Junior Pope revealed

A year after the tragic boat mishap that claimed the lives of Nollywood actor Junior Pope and four others, new details have surfaced about what really went wrong that day, as reported by Legit.
The National Inland Waterways Authority has released its findings about the boat mishap. Junior Pope, who was on his way back from a movie shoot titled Another Side of Life, died in the incident in April 2024.
The boat reportedly capsized near Cable Point at the River Niger in Asaba, Delta State.
Legit.ng recalled that the late actor’s son recently graduated, and the widow penned a special tribute to him on the occasion.
“It was not the boat” – NIWA clears the air
Speaking at a multi-modal transportation forum in Abuja, NIWA Managing Director, Bola Oyebamiji, said the accident was not caused by a mechanical fault, rough weather, or obstacles in the water. Instead, he placed the blame on human negligence, reports Daily Post.
The news of his death shocked Nollywood fans and left many grieving. Now, the idea that it could have been avoided if safety precautions had been followed has left many both sad and frustrated.
According to Oyebamiji, some of the passengers on the boat, including those who sadly didn’t make it, refused to wear life jackets that were made available before the journey.
Oyebamiji stated: “It was not mechanical failure, not impediments in the water or weather challenges. But purely a flagrant disregard for rules and regulations guiding movement on the inland waterways.”
Avoidable loss?
The revelation has reignited public conversation about safety on Nigeria’s inland waterways—and why so many tragedies appear to repeat themselves. NIWA’s MD used the opportunity to urge Nigerians to take water safety more seriously and to always comply with laid-down guidelines.
He emphasised that boat operators and passengers must support NIWA’s efforts to ensure safe travel across the country’s rivers and waterways.
Junior Pope: Boat mishap survivor speaks one year after
A survivor of the ill-fated boat has alleged that the true circumstances surrounding the incident have not been disclosed. In a video shared on Instagram, Abraham Gift Johnson, who claimed to have been on board, revealed that he had been too traumatised to speak out about the incident until now.
