God has vindicated me – CCC Shepherd Aso speaks after police clearance

The Celestial Church of Christ, Venerable Superior Evangelist James Aso, on Friday glorified God for making truth prevail over the death of Dogo, a Hausa laborer, who died while clearing the soak-away pit of the Celestial Church of Christ, Overcomers Parish, Ajah, Lagos, in June 2023.

In an act of jungle justice, local Hausa individuals and other thugs set fire to the Overcomers Parish church building in Ajah, as well as vandalizing the home of the shepherd and his family. They looted property valued at over N70 million during the chaos.

But recently, according to Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Chief Superintendent of Police Benjamin Hundeyin, the result of the autopsy exonerates the cleric and his assistants, who had been victims of a mob attack shortly after Dogo was found dead in the pit.

“What I can confirm is that the case has been to court, and the people that we (the police) took to court are people that we found culpable of arson by setting the church on fire, assault by attacking the shepherd and stealing. We do not take people that we have not found culpable to court. The shepherd was not taken to court for anything. He wasn’t found culpable of anything. The autopsy did not indict him. If the autopsy had indicted him, we would have taken him to court,” Hundeyin said.

He added, “I am not talking specifically about the autopsy because it is written in medical jargon, which I cannot interpret. But the interpretation we got from our medical officers confirmed that the shepherd or any other person at that is not culpable.”

Speaking to journalists on Friday, Aso was full of praise to God and the CCC Pastor Worldwide, Mobiyina Emmanuel Oshoffa, Board of Trustees of the  Celestial Church of Christ, his co-shepherds who stood by him, especially Pro. Gabriel Evans, for their unwavering support during the tribulation.

“I have a very big God, it is not by my power but it is God who made this happen to the world. I can’t commence this speech without appreciating Pastor Mobiyina, who stood and vouched for me. Also, the BoT of CCC supported me and stood by me till this moment. I want to pray that God will continue to drive the church in one spirit. To my friends, CCC shepherd, and Nigerians as a whole, thank you for being with me during this time of trial.”

He continued: “It was a terrible time of tribulation, but God said it is not over for me to die. I was knocking at the door of death, but he said it was not over for me. This is a justice from God, and it is a lesson for many of us who call on the name of God.”

“Celestial is not church of rituals, Papa Oshoffa was called with pure anointing, those messing up the church are not real members of Celestial you can go and check.

Responding to questions attacking his personality, Aso said: “I’m a principled person, I believe in the doctrine of this great church, so people get something wrong about my personality but God has giving me a direction which I must not derailed. I am an apostle of God to the core, and I will stand by that; every other thing is vanity.”
