Offa LGA poll: I’m more confident, motivated to win – PDP candidate, Hon Salahudeen

Hon. Lukman Salahudeen (Eluku Omo Adugbo), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship Candidate in Offa local government, is urging Tinubu not to yield to pressure from state governors regarding LG autonomy.

Salahudeen, a candidate running for the chairmanship of Offa Local Government, emphasizes the importance of an autonomy policy in ensuring the well-being of the people. He is seeking support from Tinubu to effectively implement this policy and make significant progress in his administration.

Salahudeen emphasized that the President’s initiative would effectively address various challenges, including security issues.

Salahudeen, who recently revealed his comprehensive 5-point agenda for the upcoming Kwara State local government elections on September 21, is confident that he has the knowledge and determination to win the position of Chairman of Offa Local Government.

“Mr. President has not done anything that will benefit the masses so far. But in order ways, I will still commend him for pushing autonomy to local government. This is one of the giant strides he’s about to achieve as a Democrat. We are just optimistic that he will sustain all the needful to ensure that he practically works for the good of the masses. It must be properly and practically implemented,” said Salahudeen.

He continued: “I will only urge Mr. President not to be covered by the pressure from the governors. Once the local government autonomy is fully implemented, Mr. President will vote every intervention to the local government authority. The governors have considered themselves as a demigod. They have become a clog in the will of the progress of the country. They are the threatening men of the masses.”

“When the local government system is fully empowered, where the chairman has no immunity, it becomes easier to be accountable and transparent. So when Mr. President is sharing any intervention program, be it food palliative or financial palliative, it will also need to go through the local government autonomy. These are people who are truly close to the masses. And they have no immunity. The citizens can challenge them at every point in time.

“So I just want to implore Mr. President to sustain the spirit of making a local government work in Nigeria. This will address a lot of challenges, including security, beyond hunger. Salahudeen is confident in his improved chances of winning the upcoming local government election in Kwara state later this month. He emphasizes that his 5-point agenda will provide relief and support to the local community, especially during the current economic challenges in the country.

“I believe my first outing allowed me to understand it better, and to continue it more. And that is why I think this time around, we should make it happen. I am more motivated and ready to claim the victory. I believe in the people of Offa and I have also heard their cries loud and clear, by winning the election, I shall deliver beyond greater expectations to the masses.”
