Youths ambush NDLEA officers in Bayelsa, steal gun and sabotage operation

In a dramatic confrontation in Bayelsa State, Nigeria, youths from the Oruma community ambushed National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officials during an operation targeting suspected drug dealers.
On Wednesday, after the arrest of two alleged drug peddlers, the operatives were attacked, resulting in critical injuries to four officers. The attackers seized a pistol with 15 rounds of live ammunition, freed the suspects, and vandalized the NDLEA’s operational vehicles.
The NDLEA’s Bayelsa State Commander, Mr. Kanu S. Chukwuemeka, has given the community a seven-day ultimatum to return the stolen firearm and the suspects, or face legal consequences.
The agency’s spokesperson, SN Daniel Howells Obah, emphasized that the NDLEA operates professionally and ethically, and condemned the violent actions of the community. He urged for community support in combating drug abuse and holding drug dealers accountable.
