The grand finale of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League is set to take place at Munich’s iconic Fußball Arena München on Saturday, May 31, 2025.

As Europe’s top clubs prepare for another season of intense competition, excitement is building for the final showdown at this historic venue.

Returning to Munich for the first time since 2012, the 2025 final will conclude the 70th season of Europe’s most prestigious club tournament, where new football history will be made.

The last time the UCL final was held at this stadium was in 2012 when Chelsea FC defeated Bayern Munich on penalties. The draw for this eagerly awaited league phase will be held in Monaco on Thursday, August 29.

History is poised to be written once more as the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League final, the pinnacle of world football’s club competition, unfolds at Munich’s Fußball Arena München.

A separate announcement on Thursday, sourced from the club’s website, confirmed this.

This event marks the return of European football’s premier club competition to Munich for the first time since 2012.

“The Fußball Arena München was completed in under three years, finished on April 30, 2005. The project was initiated after a referendum in October 2001, where 65.8% of Munich’s citizens voted in favor of building a new arena instead of refurbishing the Olympiastadion, the site of the 1972 Summer Olympic Games.

“The stadium hosted the 2006 FIFA World Cup opening match between Germany and Costa Rica and later held three additional group matches, a round of 16 game, and France’s semi-final victory against Portugal.

“Since its opening, the stadium has witnessed its share of dramatic moments, including the 2012 Champions League final when Chelsea overcame Bayern on penalties, despite Bayern’s home advantage,” the statement partly read.

What do UCL winners receive? The UEFA Champions League trophy stands 73.5 cm tall and weighs 7.5 kg. “It may not be an artistic masterpiece, but everyone in football dreams of lifting it,” said its creator Jürg Stadelmann.

The winners will earn the right to face the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League champions in the 2025 UEFA Super Cup.

They will also secure a spot in the group stage of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League if they haven’t already qualified through their domestic league.
