An airport employee, Auwal Ahmed Dankode, discovered approximately $10,000 (around N16 million) while cleaning a plane in Kano and promptly returned the money.

While cleaning the plane at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Dankode, an employee of the Nigeria Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO), stumbled upon a sum of money.

Auwal Ahmed Dankode informed SolaceBase that the funds were discovered aboard an Egyptian airline plane that arrived around 1:30 pm last Wednesday.

‘’I was conducting a routine cleaning of the aircraft that had just landed when I saw the money in an envelop.

Dankode, upon discovering the money, said in line with their training, whenever they found anything on an aircraft, they were expected to report to their supervisor.

However, the supervisor was not available at that time, hence, he immediately reported it to the airline company’s manager to initiate the search for the rightful owner.

According to him, few minutes later, the owner of the money, a man rushed towards the aircraft, in search of the money.

He noted that the manger asked the man what he was looking for , which he responded that it was a mony in an envelop that he forget on his seat, which was the seat number of where the money was found.

‘’The man was asked several questions which he answered positively and the money was later released to him.

‘’Many people at the airport carried me shoulder high praising me fo the good deed.

‘’Honestly I feel very elated and excited that I found it difficult to even go to bed right now , because I am so happy that God used me to make somebody happy.’’

‘’Returning what does not belong to me to the rightful owner is nothing to me because that was the training we got from home. But I am excited when I know the value and the owner who does not understand Hausa as he spoke Arabic was so happy that he hugged me many times.’’

Auwal, an indigene of Kode in Bunkure local government area, Kano State, is known for his strong fear of God and honesty.
