Transfer: Merino set for Arsenal medicals

Real Sociedad midfielder, Mikel Merino, is set to undergo his medicals ahead of a move to Arsenal.

Both clubs have finally agreed to an initial €32m fee plus €5m in add-ons with “favourable payment terms”.

Merino will now sign a contract until 2028 with the Gunners.

Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, wrote on X: “Similar to the Riccardo Calafiori story, Mikel Arteta has been crucial also for Merino’s move to Arsenal.

“Positive talks with the player, Merino had at least two more proposals but he’s been clear: only #AFC.

“He’s set to travel for medical, signing until 2028 + option.”
