Copyright: YouTube pulls down Davido’s ‘Ogechi’ remix

Afrobeat singer Davido’s wedding anthem ‘Ogechi Remix’ has been removed from YouTube due to alleged copyright infringement claims.
The song gained massive popularity after its live performance at Davido‘s wedding to Chioma on June 25, 2024.
The “Ogechi” music video, featuring BoyPee, Brown Joel, and Hyce, was uploaded on July 19, 2024, but is no longer accessible.
However, the audio version remains available on BoyPee’s official YouTube page.
It is alleged that Davido is not credited as the official artist for the song on YouTube, fueling speculation about the ownership of the track.
A trending video has surfaced, showing that the original version of “Ogechi” was created by a different artist before Davido’s remix
Following the removal of the video which was uploaded on Davido’s record label, DMW YouTube page, an X user with the handle @Johnnyescoba posted a report credited to Boypee, one of the owners of the version that Davido was featured in, claiming that the video was removed because the DMW boss wanted to take all the royalties from the views.
The user wrote, “‘We had to take down the Ogechi Remix video cuz Davido wanted to take all the royalties.’
“- Boypee in a recent interview.”
Quoting the post, Boypee debunked the claims, saying; “You and who talk that one ? To what profit eh guy? Wetin you wan use my downfall do?”
