For a hot minute, it looked like Chelsea just might pull of a major signing at striker on Transfer Deadline Day, but after waiting around

The PAPERS can exclusively report that Chelsea and Arsenal have dropped interest in signing Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen despite reduction in his asking price by the Italian club.

The 25-year-old striker was once regarded as one of the best strikers playing in Europe over the past couple of seasons.

Osimhen was heavily linked with a move elsewhere after he scored 26 goals in 32 games to help Napoli win the Serie A title in 2022/23

He did not get a transfer as Napoli priced him out of a move and last season he extended his contract until 2026.

The 2023/24 campaign was poor from Napoli’s perspective, but Osimhen still impressed as he grabbed 15 goals in his 25 Serie A appearances.

At the start of this year, Osimhen revealed his desire to leave Napoli this summer amid interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and clubs from Saudi Arabian League. But his recent misconduct on Instagram recently with his national team coach George Finidi, resulted in a big backslash from soccer loving Nigerians, describing the reigning Africa Footballer of the year as a disrespectful player and called for his apologies to the legendary Finidi who was also relieved of his position as head coach of Nigeria team.

Osimhen’s recent devaluation by Napoli could be as a result of non interest from suitors who had waited for his signature adding to his recent outburst with his country men

Sources within his camp revealed that Arsenal and Chelsea have back out of the race and that’s why Napoli had announced asking price reduction to sell the striker this summer.
