Amaechi has lost 70% of political followership in Rivers – APC

The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has said former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has lost over 70 per cent of his political followership in the state.
The Secretary of the State APC Caretaker Committee, Eric Nwibani, stated this at a news briefing in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
Nwibani further said aside from losing his support base, Amaechi, a former Governor of the State, has also lost three election circles from 2015 to 2023 despite being what he termed ‘a super minister’ and an influential member of the former President Muhammadu Buhari kitchen cabinet as a two-time Director General of Buhari’s Presidential Campaigns.
Nwibani was reacting to a statement credited to Amaechi, that those who left him to work with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, did so because they could not endure hunger.
He noted that Amaechi should rather ponder on why generations of followers were leaving his political camp rather than throw tantrums and accusations.
He stated, “Amaechi has lost over 70 per cent of his followership. I’m done working with Amaechi. Let me tell you the type of leader Amaechi is.
“In 2019, during the presidential campaign rally of President Buhari at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, 16 Rivers people died due to stampede.
“Three persons from Obio/Akpo and other LGAs of the State, Amaechi visited three families in Obio/Akpo and promised the families through their leaders that he would do something for the deceased families.
“But he didn’t turn up. That is the kind of a leader Amaechi is.”
Continuing, Nwibani said, “He (Amaechi) carries bitterness over the years. I heard him say he was going to plan to win the next election.
“How? You were a super minister and you couldn’t win the last election, is it now that you are out of government that you can win an election?
“Amaechi cannot say those working with Wike are hungry. I don’t know where he worked before joining politics. We know he made money from government and politics.
“I know that Chief Victor Giadom is not hungry. I know that Ojukaye Flag Amachree is not, Sampson Ngerigbari and many others are not hungry people. I don’t know what informed him of the statement that he made that those now working with Wike are hungry.
“Yes, Wike is a PDP man. But he is a Rivers son and is doing very well as an FCT minister working in the government of President Tinubu.
“We need to give him all the support he deserves. You cannot run a party aground and lose three consecutive elections due to ineffective leadership qualities and expect people to still follow you.
“Three good circles and you believe that those people will continue to follow you, it is not possible.
“He left PDP in 2014 for APC, and nobody threw stones at him, why is he carrying bitterness because he lost the election against President Tinubu in 2023.”
Meanwhile, the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Chibuike Ikenga, has said the party is studying the court judgement, which said the 27 Pro-Wike lawmakers led by Martin Amaewhule are still members of the PDP.
Ikenga stated, “Well, the decision of the Court is what it is. Ours is to obey or appeal.
“But as we speak, our leadership is looking at it, and based on the advice from the legal department of our party, we will take a position on it.”
Asked how soon that will happen he said, “I think the process is on now. We are in stakeholder engagement, so we will know the next line of action afterwards.”

According to the presidency, Tinubu will be resuming duty officially on Tuesday, September 16, earlier than expected.
According to the statement, Tinubu would be resuming office officially on Tuesday, September 16, earlier than his expected resumption, which was supposed to be Thursday, September 18.
Onanuga explained that Tinubu left the country for France on September 4, planning to spend part of his holiday in the European country and the United Kingdom.
During his visit to France, Tinubu had a private luncheon with President Emmanuel Macron, where the two leaders reviewed the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and France.
However, Onanuga’s announcement has started generating reactions from some Nigerians. Below are some of their reactions:
Emmanuel Ndiokwere wants the president to spend more time in the country: “On a more serious note, I wish Mr President well as he returns to Nigeria. I like to take this opportunity to plead that Mr President cut down on his foreign travels and spend some quality time at the seat of government to face the myriad of problems facing the country.”
Ayokiitan said the president’s travels must translate to investment for the country and the people: “If all these President Bola’s international meetings/travels here and there don’t translate to massive investments and reduced hunger in his 4 years as President, it would have been tantamount to a waste of scarce resources. And if there’s no visible relief, won’t vote for him again.”
Ehwarieme Kolawole Goddey prayed for the Nigerian leader: “This must have been occasioned by Something very important. May God keep leading and directing our President on the right path!”
Daily Justice countered the statement: “Mr. Bayo, 10 working days from September 4 is September 16. Therefore, Tinubu is not returning to Nigeria earlier than planned. Please stop suggesting that he has cut short his trip to France for the benefit of Nigeria.”
George April projected that the president would be welcomed by some governors at the airport: “We’ll still see some governors leave their states and office to go and welcome him at the airport.”

VIDEO: Prophet Iginla Shares Scary Prophecies On Tinubu, Wike’s Health

Popular Nigerian cleric and founder of Champions Royal Assembly, Prophet Joshua Iginla, has called on citizens to intensify their prayers for the nation’s leaders, particularly focusing on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
In a recent prophetic message delivered to his congregation, Iginla emphasized the urgent need to address the health of both leaders. …You can watch Iginla’s video from 0:01 to 0:26 minutes
He stated that spiritual support through prayer is essential for enabling them to effectively fulfill their responsibilities in guiding the country.
In his words, “We need to be praying for our leaders. I have talked about two important leaders that needs our prayers in this country. I see our president and the FCT minister need prayer for their health. They should pay more attention to their health.”
The prophecy comes amid renewed conversations about the well-being of public office holders in Nigeria. Earlier this year, speculation swirled around Nyesom Wike’s health, prompting widespread media reports. The former Rivers State governor, however, swiftly dismissed the rumours, insisting he was in good condition and capable of handling his ministerial responsibilities.
For President Tinubu, who assumed office in May 2023, concerns about his health have also been a recurring subject of public debate, both during his election campaign and after his inauguration. Although the presidency has repeatedly assured Nigerians of his fitness to govern, the topic continues to surface in political discussions.

Wike, governor of Rivers state from 2015 to 2023, is widely considered a strong ally of President Bola Tinubu.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member supported Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the 2023 poll. Tinubu eventually won the 2023 presidential election.
Wike was the leader of the G5, a group of then-PDP governors who were aggrieved with the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the PDP national leadership at the time.
After his inauguration on May 29, 2023, Tinubu appointed Wike as the minister of the FCT, Abuja, apparently as a reward for his support to the president during the election.
