Two passengers have reportedly drowned after they fell into the lagoon from a commercial bus on Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State.

Two passengers have reportedly drowned after they fell into the lagoon from a commercial bus on Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State.

Other passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries from the incident, According to The Nation.

The crash occurred on Eid-el-fitri when Muslims are celebrating the end of Ramadan.

It was learnt that the driver of the 20-seater bus with number plate FKJ 872 YA was trying to avert plunging the vehicle into lagoon when the passengers fell off.

Southwest Coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Ibrahim Farinloye confirmed the incident.

He said a rescue team has commenced search-and-rescue operations.
