Senate Approves FG's N1.15trn Loan To Fund 2025 Budget Deficit

The Nigerian Senate has postponed its resumption earlier scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, till Tuesday, April 23, 2024, citing “unforeseen circumstances”.

Senate Clerk Chinedu Akubueze disclosed the development in a message sent to the Senators on Saturday.

Titled: “For the Information of Distinguished Senators”, the message cited by THEWILL, reads: “Distinguished Senators are hereby invited to note that the resumption of the plenary sitting of the Senate, which was scheduled for Tuesday, 16th April 2024, has been postponed to Tuesday, 23rd April 2024.

“This postponement is owing to unforeseen circumstances, and any inconvenience this may cause is highly regretted, please.”

The two Chambers of the National Assembly had suspended legislative session to observe the Easter and Sallah break.

Earlier, the House of Representatives, on Friday, postponed its resumption till April 23. Reps Clerk Yahaya Danzaria had said the shift in date of resumption was to allow the main chambers of the House currently being renovated to be made ready for lawmakers upon resumption.

But, the Senate has attributed the postponement of resumption to “unforeseen circumstances.”
