Zulum approves cash, food for CJTF, hunters, others fighting Boko Haram

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved relief packages comprising cash and food items for volunteers fighting Boko Haram alongside the military and other security agencies in Bama town.

Over 810 combined volunteer groups received cash donations and food items, including rice and maize grain.

The governor announced the package when he addressed the leadership and members of the volunteers at the premises of the Shehu of Bama, Umar Ibn Shehu Kyari Ibn Umar Elkanemi, yesterday.

Zulum usually extends support to the military, paramilitary, police, volunteers from the Civilian Joint Task Force, hunters, and vigilantes on visits to Local Government headquarters and rural communities.

The governor extolled the volunteers for the sacrifices they were making and assured them of the government’s continuous support to provide peace and security.

“We are aware of the enormous efforts you put into complementing the efforts of the military in the fight against insurgency and other forms of criminality. We commend you and urge you to continue to be dedicated,” Zulum said.

He added, “The government of Borno State will never relent in extending support to you. Your welfare is of high priority to us; we will not leave you. Be assured that the government will always be with you.”

Zulum noted that his continuous support was to show gratitude to the volunteers for their sacrifices in complementing the efforts of the military and other security forces in the fight against insurgents.
