Wizkid doesn’t owe Banky W anything — Olamide

Popular Nigerian musician, Olamide has posited that his industry colleague, Wizkid does not owe his former label boss, Banky W anything. Banky is the founder of Empire Mates Entertainment (EME), the record label from which Wizkid started his career.
Olamide shared a clip on Twitter of Wizkid granting an interview where he revealed that he left EME without a dime.
“When I left the label, nobody knows the story. I literally had to leave wit zero Naira, and I was Wizkid. It was a great time in my life because I am thankful to Banky W for everything he’s done for me. But you know at a certain point as artistes, you definitely want to like get to a stage where you want to progress and move forward,” he told his interviewer.
Captioning the clip, Olamide thanked God for Wizkid’s life while commending him for still giving honour to Banky.
“Thank God for Wizkid’s life. Despite everything he faced with EME, he still respects Banky W. Maybe that’s one of the reasons God keeps blessings him,” he wrote.
However, a twitter user was quick to point out that Wizkid did not attend Banky’s wedding to Adesua Etomi, opining that he probably still harboured a grudge.
Responding to the claim, Olamide, also known as Badoo, stated that Wizkid doesn’t owe Banky W anything as what they had was a business arrangement.
“I don’t know why you are so pained. Wizkid doesn’t owe Banky W anything. Music is a business not charity organisation. Before Banky, he was doing fine, while he was with EME he gave the label fame and made them huge money. After he left, he’s biggest artiste in Africa. Stop capping,” he responded.
