(VIDEO): Is Tinubu’s govt unfit? Aregbesola launches fresh attack on APC
In anticipation of the 2027 general elections, the Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, initiated a substantial membership drive within the new coalition movement in Lagos State. He urged residents and citizens of Nigeria to consider voting out the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Aregbesola emphasized that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), and the APC have collectively failed to meet the needs of the country, asserting that the ADC offers a promising alternative to the Nigerian populace. Funmi Onita-Coker, the ADC Influencer in Kosofe Local Government Area, reported that Aregbesola had visited Kosofe to facilitate the recruitment of new party members. During his address, he encouraged those present to engage in a widespread membership initiative and pledged to provide all necessary support to ensure its success.

Aregbesola stated, “I am urging you to disseminate information about the ADC to all Nigerians, especially those residing in your local government areas. Inform them that a new opportunity awaits them in our party, offering a new deal that aims to steer our nation, Nigeria, back onto the paths of development and progress. I encourage all citizens to recognize the necessity of joining the ADC and utilizing this platform to replace the ineffectual APC government. Furthermore, I implore all Nigerians to participate in the electoral process and to ensure the protection of their votes through vigilant follow-up.”
In a prompt response, the Lagos APC Spokesman, Mr. Seye Oladejo, characterized Aregbesola’s statements as a breach of trust.
He remarked, “The APC in Lagos perceives Aregbesola’s remarks as disappointing and a betrayal of the values he once represented within our party. His statements indicate a level of political desperation and opportunism disguised as a ‘new deal’ that lacks substantiality, structure, or credibility. It is remarkable that a politician who benefited from the goodwill and platform of the APC for over two decades—transitioning from his role as a Commissioner in Lagos to Governor of Osun State and subsequently a Federal Minister—would subsequently denounce the same party publicly. Should the APC have failed, Aregbesola must accept his share of accountability for his part in governance rather than attempting to distort history for the sake of political relevance. No amount of political posturing can alter this reality. While individuals are entitled to pursue their political aspirations, it is anticipated that they conduct themselves with integrity and decorum. The Lagos APC remains unwavering and dedicated to delivering democratic benefits to the populace. We welcome constructive criticism but reject any fabrications and political theatrics aimed at misleading the public. Our commitment to constructing a more prosperous Lagos and a stronger Nigeria remains steadfast.”
In a related development, the South-West APC announced plans to recruit over 2,000 canvassers across all electoral wards throughout the region. Mr. Isaacs Kekemeke, the Zonal Chairman of the party, addressed attendees at the South West Zonal Executives Committee meeting held in Akure, Ondo State, to discuss strategies for bolstering President Bola Tinubu’s campaign for re-election.
Kekemeke remarked, “Our objective is to recruit canvassers in every ward across the Southwest in preparation for the 2027 presidential election. We aspire to replicate the electoral support for President Bola Tinubu that the Northwest consistently provided to the late President Muhammadu Buhari.”
