EXPOSED: Fresh tension in ADC coalition as party suspects Presidency informants

Stakeholders within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have reportedly decided to postpone discussions aimed at challenging and defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This development follows the interrogation and subsequent detention of former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to a report by The Guardian, the coalition’s decision to delay its initiatives stems from concerns that the Presidency may have infiltrated the party with moles, a concern highlighted by the recent summons of key coalition members by the anti-graft agency.

A former governor associated with the coalition indicated that suspicions were raised by the EFCC’s sudden intervention, which occurred shortly after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar suggested that he might reconsider his presidential ambitions, conditional upon Tambuwal serving as the running mate to any Southern candidate.

The source, who also has prior experience as a senator, remarked, “We have reason to believe that prevailing authorities may have positioned informants within our ranks. One must question the timing of the EFCC’s actions, occurring contemporaneously with the former Vice President’s consideration of a strategy to allow the Southern region to complete its eight-year term.”

The former governor further stated, “Consequently, we have resolved to postpone critical decisions in order to better comprehend the approach the President intends to take regarding the impending election. It is evident to the APC that their candidate lacks significant popular support, and that the electorate is seeking alternatives. This aggressive tactic may only serve to slow us down rather than deter our progress.”

He elaborated that the coalition is devising new strategies to keep “the adversaries of democracy uncertain” and to highlight their perceived desperation to dominate the political landscape through unscrupulous methods.
