Comfort Emmanson, the passenger at the center of an alleged case of unruly conduct involving Ibom Air, has publicly addressed the situation after her release from custody.

In a statement via her Instagram account @soft_commy, Emmanson expressed gratitude to her supporters for their prayers and concern during her period of detainment. She confirmed her release from Kirikiri Correctional Centre and expressed her ongoing distress regarding the treatment she received, indicating her intention to provide a comprehensive account of her experience following a period of rest and medical attention.

Her release occurred subsequent to a ruling by the Ikeja Magistrate Court located in Ogba, which struck out the five-count charge against her.

The presiding Magistrate, Olanrewaju Salami, dismissed the case after the police formally requested its withdrawal.

This decision followed a resolution spearheaded by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), who cited consultations with aviation stakeholders, public appeals, and the remorse demonstrated by those involved. Furthermore, Ibom Air officially retracted its complaint as part of the settlement process.

Initially, Emmanson was arraigned on charges related to an incident that transpired on August 10 and was granted bail in the amount of ₦500,000, contingent upon the provision of two sureties, while she awaited the fulfillment of these conditions.
